Here are lots of paintings here that look even more real than photographs! You get the illusion of looking at the scenery as it is. It’s so amazing!!! How can they paint pictures that are so similar to what you see? I went to the Hoki Museum, a rare museum in the world that specializes in realistic paintings!!!

I would especially recommend this to all overseas art lovers. Around 120 masterpieces of Japanese realistic paintings are on display at all times! This is a wonderful museum that Japan can be proud of.

Just from the outside, it looks artistic!!!

Unfortunately, photography was not allowed… let me tell you in words!

Starting from Gallery 1, there are 9. If you take your time, an hour will pass in the blink of an eye.

There are many paintings, from landscapes to portraits and still lifes. There is also a unique matte textured porcelain called Hokou Saiji by Itaya Hazan, a potter active in the Meiji and Showa periods who was the first to receive the Order of Culture.

From a distance, each piece is so intricately painted that you could mistake it for a photograph. If you look closely, you can see that the details, such as the light and shade and the shadows, have been carefully considered when coloring.

For example, the parts that shine in the sunlight look like they are really shining, but if you look closely, you can see that the white paint is exquisitely applied to express the reflection of the light. It’s an amazing technique. It’s a continuous moving experience.

The portraits are so realistic that you can feel the person’s breathing more than a photograph. It’s amazing.

You might think that photographs are fine for realistic paintings, but each painter expresses a moment and space that cannot be expressed in a photograph with their own individuality, which is captivating to look at.

There are some pictures in the pamphlet!

There were some paintings in the pamphlet I got at the Hoki Museum, so I’ll post them here!!! I’d love for you to see the real paintings. Really! The image is like this, with a row of paintings like the ones in the photo! It’s amazing!

Here is the museum floor map!

It’s a three-story building, you enter on the 1st floor and go down to the B1 and B2 floors. The gallery is long and narrow, and has a very stylish feel.

The stairs to move to the next floor have also been designed in a clever way. When going from the 1st floor to the B1 floor, you pass through a small space, and when you reach the next floor, it’s suddenly a very large space. In contrast, when moving from the B1 floor to the B2 floor, you get the feeling of moving through a large space with a high ceiling and wide staircase, while looking at the painting at the end of the stairs. The design makes the paintings stand out even more!

And on the lowest floor, the control panel for the electrical system and the moving parts of the elevator are visible through glass, so you can enjoy the mechanical aspects as well.
